Iḇ`rim (Hebrews) 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.

Iḇ`rim (Hebrews) 12:1

The Spirit has pointed out the entrapment of “subtle sins” – things that appear to be okay but really are not! Recall when the tempter appeared to Messiah in the wilderness at the end of His 40-day fast, he tried to get Messiah to commit “subtle sins.” Who would think it is a sin for Messiah to turn stones to bread? This infamous attempt to ensnare Messiah shows up in the famous Michael Jackson song: “We are world,” which many of have sung without realizing that they are lying about Messiah, because contrary to what this song says, Messiah did NOT allow Himself to be ensnared by using His power for a prideful purpose: to show off who He is. Messiah YAHUSHUA refused to bow to the enemy and did NOT turn stones to bread—although that would have been too easy for Him to do.

What Messiah did do was cause water to come from a Rock in the wilderness, during the 40-year journey from Egypt (Mitsrayim) to Kanaan. That entire generation was “immersed” in the great cloud of witness which travelled before them by day; they ate manna (the bread of heaven) 7 days a week, and they all drank the same spiritual drink—”For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed, and the Rock was Messiah (1Co 10:4).” Moshe committed a “subtle sin” when he struck the Rock instead of speaking to it, because by so doing, he undermined a teachable moment, because YAH wanted to use this miracle to teach the people to trust in His ability to provide for them.

How did Messiah fight the tempter? With the Word of YAH—that two-edged sword that comes out of His mouth (Rev 2:12 & 19:15)! This Word is our defense as continue the journey to the promised land.
