The Creation (John 1:1–5 ; Hebrews 11:1–3)
Berĕshith Chapter 1
1In the beginning Alahym created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of Alahym was moving over the surface of the waters.
The First Day
3 And Alahym said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And Alahym saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 Alahym called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.”
And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
The Second Day
6 And Alahym said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.” 7 So Alahym made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so. 8 Alahym called the expanse “sky.”
And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
The Third Day
9 And Alahym said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place, so that the dry land may appear.” And it was so. 10 Alahym called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering of waters He called “seas.” And Alahym saw that it was good.
11 Then Alahym said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so. 12 The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And Alahym saw that it was good.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
The Fourth Day
14 And Alahym said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heaven to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs and appointed times and days and years. 15 And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the heaven to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.
16 Alahym made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.
17 Alahym set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth, 18 to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And Alahym saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
The Fifth Day
20 And Alahym said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.” 21 So Alahym created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters teemed according to their kinds, and every winged bird after its kind. And Alahym saw that it was good.
22 Then Alahym blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
The Sixth Day
24 And Alahym said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 Alahym made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And Alahym saw that it was good.
26 Then Alahym said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”
27 So Alahym created man in His own image;
in the image of Alahym He created him;
male and female He created them.
28 Alahym blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”
29 Then Alahym said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31 And Alahym looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good.
And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
The Seventh Day (Exodus 16:22–30 ; Hebrews 4:1–11)
Berĕshith Chapter 2
1Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 And by the seventh day Alahym had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.
3 Then Alahym blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished.
Man and Woman in the Garden
4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym made them.
5 Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground. 6 But springs welled up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
7 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
8 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym planted a garden in Eden, in the east, where He placed the man He had formed. 9 Out of the ground 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it branched into four headwaters:
11 The name of the first river is the Pishon; it winds through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is pure, and bdellium and onyx are found there.
13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the whole land of Cush.
14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria.
And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym commanded him, “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
18 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper, as his counterpart.”
19 And out of the ground 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Aḏam, no suitable helper was found.
21 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh. 22 And from the rib that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him. 23 And the man said:
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for out of man she was taken.”
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
25 And the man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
The Serpent’s Deception (Romans 5:12–21)
Berĕshith Chapter 3
1Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym had made. And he said to the woman, “Did Alahym really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ ”
2 The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden, 3 but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, Alahym has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’ ”
4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent told the woman. 5 “For Alahym knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like Alahym, knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.
7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; so they sewed together fig leaves and made coverings for themselves.
Alahym Arraigns Aḏam and Eve
8 Then the man and his wife heard the voice of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym walking in the garden in the breeze of the day, and they hid themselves from the presence of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym among the trees of the garden.
9 But 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym called out to the man, “Where are you?”
10 “I heard Your voice in the garden,” he replied, “and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”
11 “Who told you that you were naked?” asked 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym. “Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”
12 And the man answered, “The woman whom You gave me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
“The serpent deceived me,” she replied, “and I ate.”
The Fate of the Serpent
14 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
cursed are you above all livestock
and every beast of the field!
On your belly will you go,
and dust you will eat,
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her Seed.
He will crush your head,
and you will strike His heel.”
The Punishment of Mankind
16 To the woman He said:
“I will sharply increase your pain in childbirth;
in pain you will bring forth children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”
17 And to Aḏam He said:
“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife
and have eaten from the tree
of which I commanded you not to eat,
cursed is the ground because of you;
through toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it will yield for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your bread,
until you return to the ground—
because out of it were you taken.
For dust you are,
and to dust you shall return.”
20 And Aḏam named his wife Ḥawwah1, because she would be the mother of all the living.
The Expulsion from Paradise
21 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym made garments of skin for Aḏam and his wife, and He clothed them.
22 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil. And now, lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever. . .”
23 Therefore 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 So He drove out the man and stationed cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, along with a whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life.
Cain and Abel (Hebrews 11:4)
Berĕshith Chapter 4
1And Aḏam had relations with his wife Ḥawwah, and she conceived and gave birth to Qayin.
“With the help of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 I have brought forth a man,” she said.
2 Later she gave birth to Qayin’s brother Heḇel.
Now Heḇel was a keeper of sheep, while Qayin was a tiller of the soil. 3 So in the course of time, Qayin brought some of the fruit of the soil as an offering to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), 4 while Abel brought the best portions of the firstborn of his flock.
And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 looked with favor on Heḇel and his offering, 5 but He had no regard for Qayin and his offering. So Qayin became very angry, and his countenance fell.
6 “Why are you angry,” said 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 to Qayin, “and why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you refuse to do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires you, but you must master it.”
8 Then Qayin said to his brother Heḇel, “Let us go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Qayin rose up against his brother Heḇel and killed him.
9 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Qayin, “Where is your brother Heḇel?”
“I do not know!” he answered. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10 “What have you done?” replied 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄. “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 Now you are cursed and banished from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its produce to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”
13 But Qayin said to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, “My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, this day You have driven me from the face of the earth, and from Your face I will be hidden; I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
15 “Not so!” replied 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄. “If anyone slays Qayin, then Qayin will be avenged sevenfold.” And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 placed a mark on Qayin, so that no one who found him would kill him.
16 So Qayin went out from the presence of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
The Descendants of Qayin
17 And Qayin had relations with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Ḥanoḵ. Then Qayin built a city and named it after his son Ḥanoḵ.
18 Now to Ḥanoḵ was born Iraḏ, and Iraḏ was the father of Meḥuya’al, and Meḥuya’al was the father of Methusa’al, and Methusa’al was the father of Lemeḵ. 19 And Lemeḵ married two women, one named Aḏah and the other Tsillah.
20 Aḏah gave birth to Yaḇal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and raise livestock. 21 And his brother’s name was Yuḇal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.
22 And Tsillah gave birth to Tuḇal-Qayin, a forger of every implement of bronze and iron. And the sister of Tuḇal-Qayin was Na‛amah.
23 Then Lemeḵ said to his wives:
“Aḏah and Tsillah, hear my voice;
wives of Lemeḵ, listen to my speech.
For I have slain a man for wounding me,
a young man for striking me.
24 If Qayin is avenged sevenfold,
then Lemeḵ seventy-sevenfold.”
Seth and Enosh
25 And Aḏam again had relations with his wife, and she gave birth to a son and named him Shěth, saying, “Alahym has granted me another seed in place of Heḇel, since Qayin killed him.”
26 And to Shěth also a son was born, and he called him Enosh.
At that time men began to call upon the name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
The Descendants of Aḏam (1 Chronicles 1:1–3)
Berĕshith Chapter 5
1This is the book of the generations of Aḏam. In the day that Alahym created man, He made him in His own likeness. 2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them ‘Aḏam.’
3 When Aḏam was 130 years old, he had a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and he named him Shěth. 4 And after he had become the father of Shěth, Aḏam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 So Aḏam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
6 When Shěth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh. 7 And after he had become the father of Enosh, Shěth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. 8 So Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
9 When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Qěynan. 10 And after he had become the father of Qěynan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. 11 So Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
12 When Qěynan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel. 13 And after he had become the father of Mahalal’al, Qěynan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. 14 So Qěynan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
15 When Mahalal’al was 65 years old, he became the father of Mahalal’al. 16 And after he had become the father of Yereḏ, Mahalal’al lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 So Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
Alahym Takes Up Enoch (Hebrews 11:5)
18 When Yereḏ was 162 years old, he became the father of Ḥanoḵ. 19 And after he had become the father of Ḥanoḵ, Yereḏ lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 So Yereḏ lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21 When Ḥanoḵ was 65 years old, he became the father of Methushelaḥ. 22 And after he had become the father of Methushelaḥ, Ḥanoḵ walked with Alahym 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 So Ḥanoḵ lived a total of 365 years.
24 Ḥanoḵ walked with Alahym, and then he was no more, because Alahym had taken him away.
From Methuselah to Noah
25 When Methushelaḥ was 187 years old, he became the father of Lemeḵ. 26 And after he had become the father of Lemeḵ, Methushelaḥ lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 So Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
28 When Lemeḵ was 182 years old, he had a son. 29 And he named him Noaḥ, saying, “May this one comfort us in the labor and toil of our hands caused by the ground that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 has cursed.” 30 And after he had become the father of Noaḥ, Lemeḵ lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 So Lemeḵ lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32 After Noaḥ was 500 years old, he became the father of Shěm, Ḥam, and Yapheth.
Corruption on the Earth (Matthew 24:36–51)
Berĕshith Chapter 6
1Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of Alahym saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.
3 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward as well—when the sons of Alahym had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.
5 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.
6 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said, “I will wipe off man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.”
Noaḥ’s Favor with Alahym
8 Noaḥ, however, found favor in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
| Yashayah (Isaiah) 51: 6 – 8 |
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
and look at the earth below;
for the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment,
and its people will die like gnats.
But My deliverance will last forever,
and My righteousness will never fail.
7 Listen to Me, you who know what is right,
you people with My law in your hearts:
Do not fear the scorn of men;
do not be broken by their insults.
8 For the moth will devour them like a garment,
and the worm will eat them like wool.
But My righteousness will last forever,
My deliverance through all generations.”
| Ḥazon (Revelation) 22:6-21 |
6 Then the messenger said to me, “These words are faithful and true. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, the Alahym of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His messenger to show His servants what must soon take place.”
7 “Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book.
8 And I, Yoḥanan, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the messenger who had shown me these things. 9 But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the Words of this book. Worship Alahym!”
10 Then he told me, “Do not seal up the Words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near. 11 Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the set-apart continue to be set-apart.”
12 “Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done. 13 I am the Aleph and the Tau, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates. 15 But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “I, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏, have sent My messenger to give you this witness for the assemblies. I am the Root and the Offspring of Daud, the bright Morning Star.”
17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.
Nothing May Be Added or Removed
18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, Alahym will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, Alahym will take away his share in the tree of life and the set-apart city, which are described in this book.
20 He who bears witness to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Aman. Come, Master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏!
21 The favor of the Master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏 be with all the set apart ones.
