Bemiḏbar (Numbers) Chapter 33

Forty-Two Journeys of the Yasharalites

1 These are the journeys of the Yasharalites when they came out of the land of Mitsrayim by their divisions under the leadership of Moshe and Aharon. 2 At 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’s command, Moshe recorded the stages of their journey. These are the stages listed by their starting points:

3 On the fifteenth day of the first new moon, on the day after the Pěsaḥ, the Yasharalites set out from Ra‛meses. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Mitsrayites, 4 who were burying all their firstborn, whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had struck down among them; for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had executed judgment against their idols. 5 The Yasharalites set out from Ra‛meses and camped at Sukkoth

6 They set out from Sukkoth and camped at Ětham, on the edge of the wilderness.

7 They set out from Ětham and turned back to Pi Haḥiroth, opposite Ba‛al Tsephon, and they camped near Miḡdol.

8 They set out from Haḥiroth and crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Ětham and camped at Marah.

9 They set out from Marah and came to Ělim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.

10 They set out from Ělim and camped by the Sea of Reeds.

11 They set out from the Sea of Reeds and camped in the Wilderness of Sin.

12 They set out from the Wilderness of Sin and camped at Dophqah.

13 They set out from Dophqah and camped at Alush.

14 They set out from Alush and camped at Rephiḏim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

15 They set out from Rephiḏim and camped in the Wilderness of Sinai.

16 They set out from the Wilderness of Sinai and camped at Qiḇroth Hatta’awah.

17 They set out from Qiḇroth Hatta’awah and camped at Ḥatsěroth.

18 They set out from Ḥatsěroth and camped at Rithmah.

19 They set out from Rithmah and camped at Rimmon Perets.

20 They set out from Rimmon Perets and camped at Liḇnah.

21 They set out from Liḇnah and camped at Rissah.

22 They set out from Rissah and camped at Qehělathah.

23 They set out from Qehělathah and camped at Mount Shapher.

24 They set out from Mount Shapher and camped at Ḥaraḏah.

25 They set out from Ḥaraḏah and camped at Maqhěloth.

26 They set out from Maqhěloth and camped at Taḥath.

27 They set out from Taḥath and camped at Teraḥ.

28 They set out from Teraḥ and camped at Mithqah.

29 They set out from Mithqah and camped at Ḥashmonah.

30 They set out from Ḥashmonah and camped at Mosěroth.

31 They set out from Mosěroth and camped at Beněi Ya‛aqan.

32 They set out from Beněi Ya‛aqan and camped at Ḥor Haggiḏgaḏ.

33 They set out from Ḥor Haggiḏgaḏ and camped at Yotḇathah.

34  They set out from Yotḇathah and camped at Aḇronah.

35 They set out from Aḇronah and camped at Etsyon Geḇer.

36 They set out from Etsyon Geḇer and camped at the Wilderness of Tsin, which is Qaḏěsh.

37  They set out from Qaḏěsh and camped at Mount Hor, on the outskirts of the land of Eḏom. 38 At 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’s command, Aharon the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year after the Yasharalites had come out of the land of Mitsrayim. 39 Aharon was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.

40 Now the Kena‛anite king of Araḏ, who lived in the South in the land of Kena‛an, heard that the Yasharalites were coming. 41 And the Yasharalites set out from Mount Hor and camped at Tsalmonah.

42 They set out from Tsalmonah and camped at Punon.

43 They set out from Punon and camped at Oḇoth.

44 They set out from Oḇoth and camped at Iyě Ha-Aḇarim on the border of Mo’aḇ.

45 They set out from Iyim and camped at Diḇon Gaḏ.

46 They set out from Diḇon Gaḏ and camped at Almon Diḇlathayemah.

47 They set out from Almon Diḇlathayemah and camped in the mountains of Aḇarim, before Neḇo.

48 They set out from the mountains of Aḇarim, before Neḇo and camped on the plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yarděn of Yeriḥo.

49 And there on the plains of Mo’aḇ they camped by the Yarděn, from Běyth Yeshimoth as far as the Aḇěl Shittim.

Instructions for Occupying Kena‛an

50 On the plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yarděn across from Yeriḥo, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Moshe, 51 “Speak to the Yasharalites and tell them: When you cross the Yarděn into the land of Kena‛an, 52 you must drive out before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and demolish all their high places.

53 You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess. 54 And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.

55 But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle. 56 And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”

Bemiḏbar (Numbers) Chapter 34

The Boundaries of Kena‛an  (Genesis 15:8–21)

1 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Moshe, 2 “Command the children of Yasharal and say to them: When you enter the land of Kena‛an, it will be allotted to you as an inheritance with these boundaries:

3 Your southern border will extend from the Wilderness of Tsin along the border of Eḏom. On the east, your southern border will run from the end of the Salt Sea,  4 cross south of the Ascent of Aqrabbim,  continue to Tsin, and go south of Qaḏěsh Barněa. Then it will go on to Ḥatsar Addar and proceed to Atsmon, 5 where it will turn from Atsmon, join the wadi of Mitsrayim, and end at the Sea.

6 Your western border will be the coastline of the Great Sea; this will be your boundary on the west.

7 Your northern border will run from the Great Sea directly to Mount Hor, 8 and from Mount Hor to to the entrance of Ḥamath, then extend to Tseḏaḏ, 9 continue to Ziphron, and end at Ḥatsar Ěnan. This will be your boundary on the north.

10 And your eastern border will run straight from Ḥatsar Ěnan to Shepham, 11 then go down from Shepham to Riḇlah on the east side of Ayin and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Kinnereth. 12 Then the border will go down along the Yarděn and end at the Salt Sea.

This will be your land, defined by its borders on all sides.”

13 So Moshe commanded the children of Yasharal, “Apportion this land by lot as an inheritance. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half tribes. 14 For the tribes of the Reubenites and Gadites, along with the half-tribe of Manasseh, have already received their inheritance. 15 These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance across the Yarděn from Yeriḥo, toward the sunrise.”

Leaders to Divide the Land

16 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Moshe, 17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land as an inheritance for you: Al‛azar the priest, and Yahushua son of Nun. 18 Appoint one leader from each tribe to distribute the land. 19 These are their names:

Kalěḇ son of Yephunneh from the tribe of Yahudah;

20 Shemu’ěl son of Ammihuḏ from the tribe of Shim‛on;

21Eliḏaḏ son of Kislon from the tribe of Binyamin;

22 Buqqi son of Yoḡli, a leader from the tribe of Dan;

23 Ḥanni’ěl son of Ěphoḏ, a leader from the tribe of Manashsheh son of Yosěph;

24 Qemu’ěl son of Shiphtan, a leader from the tribe of Ephrayim;

25 Elitsaphan son of Parnaḵ, a leader from the tribe of Zeḇulun;

26 Palti’al son of Azzan, a leader from the tribe of Yissasḵar;

27 Aḥihuḏ son of Shelomi, a leader from the tribe of Ashěr;

28 and Peḏah’ěl son of Ammihuḏ, a leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”

29 These are the ones whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commanded to apportion the inheritance to the children of Yasharal in the land of Kena‛an.

Bemiḏbar (Numbers) Chapter 35

Forty-Eight Cities for the Luiyiim  (Joshua 21:1–45 ;  1 Chronicles 6:54–81)

1 Again 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 spoke to Moshe on the plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yarděn across from Yeriḥo: 2 “Command the children of Yasharal to give, from the inheritance they will possess, cities for the Luiyiim to live in and pasturelands around the cities. 3 The cities will be for them to live in, and the pasturelands will be for their herds, their flocks, and all their other livestock.

4 The pasturelands around the cities you are to give the Luiyiim will extend a thousand cubits   from the wall on every side. 5 You are also to measure two thousand cubits outside the city on the east, two thousand on the south, two thousand on the west, and two thousand on the north, with the city in the center. These areas will serve as larger pasturelands for the cities.

6 Six of the cities you give the Luiyiim are to be appointed as cities of refuge, to which a manslayer may flee. In addition to these, give the Luiyiim forty-two other cities. 7 The total number of cities you give the Luiyiim will be forty-eight, with their corresponding pasturelands. 8 The cities that you apportion from the territory of the children of Yasharal should be given to the Luiyiim in proportion to the inheritance of each tribe: more from a larger tribe and less from a smaller one.”

Six Cities of Refuge  (Deuteronomy 4:41–43 ;  19:1–14 ;  Joshua 20:1–9)

9 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to Moshe, 10 “Speak to the children of Yasharal and tell them: When you cross the Yarděn into the land of Kena‛an, 11 designate cities to serve as your cities of refuge, so that a person who kills someone unintentionally may flee there. 12 You are to have these cities as a refuge from the avenger, so that the manslayer will not die until he stands trial before the assembly.

13 The cities you select will be your six cities of refuge. 14 Select three cities across the Yarděn and three in the land of Kena‛an as cities of refuge. 15 These six cities will serve as a refuge for the children of Yasharal and for the foreigner or stranger among them, so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there.

16 If, however, anyone strikes a person with an iron object and kills him, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death. 17 Or if anyone has in his hand a stone of deadly size, and he strikes and kills another, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death. 18 If anyone has in his hand a deadly object of wood, and he strikes and kills another, he is a murderer; the murderer must surely be put to death.

19 The avenger of blood is to put the murderer to death; when he finds him, he is to kill him.

20 Likewise, if anyone maliciously pushes another or intentionally throws an object at him and kills him, 21 or if in hostility he strikes him with his hand and he dies, the one who struck him must surely be put to death; he is a murderer. When the avenger of blood finds the murderer, he is to kill him.

22 But if anyone pushes a person suddenly, without hostility, or throws an object at him unintentionally, 23 or without looking drops a heavy stone that kills him, but he was not an enemy and did not intend to harm him, 24 then the congregation must judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances. 25 The assembly is to protect the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood. Then the assembly will return him to the city of refuge to which he fled, and he must live there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the set apart oil.

26 But if the manslayer ever goes outside the limits of the city of refuge to which he fled 27 and the avenger of blood finds him outside of his city of refuge and kills him, then the avenger will not be guilty of bloodshed, 28 because the manslayer must remain in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. Only after the death of the high priest may he return to the land he owns. 29 This will be a statutory ordinance for you for the generations to come, wherever you live.

30 If anyone kills a person, the murderer is to be put to death on the testimony of the witnesses. But no one is to be put to death based on the testimony of a lone witness.

31 You are not to accept a ransom for the life of a murderer who deserves to die; he must surely be put to death. 32 Nor should you accept a ransom for the person who flees to a city of refuge and allow him to return and live on his own land before the death of the high priest.

33 Do not pollute the land where you live, for bloodshed pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land on which the blood is shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. 34 Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell. For I, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, dwell among the children of Yasharal.”

Bemiḏbar (Numbers) Chapter 36

1 Now the family heads of the clan of Gil‛aḏ son of Maḵir, son of Menashsheh, of the clans of the sons of Yosěph, approached Moshe and the leaders who were the heads of the Yasharalite families and addressed them, 2 saying, “When 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commanded my master to give the land as an inheritance to the children of Yasharal by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Tselophḥaḏ to his daughters. 3 But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Yasharal, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our allotted inheritance would be taken away. 4 And when the Yoḇel for the children of Yasharal comes, their inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”

5 So at the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, Moshe commanded the children of Yasharal: “The tribe of the sons of Yosěph speaks correctly. 6 This is what 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 has commanded concerning the daughters of Tselophḥaḏ: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father. 7 No inheritance in Yasharal may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the children of Yasharal is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. 8 Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Yasharalite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Yasharalite will possess the inheritance of his fathers. 9 No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Yasharal must retain its inheritance.”

10 So the daughters of Tselophḥaḏ did as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had commanded Moshe. 11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Tselophḥaḏ, were married to cousins on their father’s side. 12 They married within the clans of the descendants of Manashsheh son of Yosěph, and their inheritance remained within the tribe of their father’s clan.

13 These are the commandments and ordinances that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gave the children of Yasharal through Moshe on the plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yarděn across from Yeriḥo.

YirmeYahu (YirmeYahu) 2:4-28; 3:4; 4:1-2

YirmeYahu (YirmeYahu) Chapter 2

Yasharal Has Forsaken Alahym

4 Hear the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, O house of Ya‛aqoḇ, and all you families of the house of Yasharal. 5 This is what 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 says:

 “What fault did your fathers find in Me

that they strayed so far from Me?

They followed worthless idols,

and became worthless themselves.

6 They did not ask, ‘Where is 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄

who brought us up from the land of Mitsrayim,

who led us through the wilderness,

through a land of deserts and pits,

a land of drought and darkness,

a land where no one travels and no one lives?’

7 I brought you into a fertile land

to eat its fruit and bounty,

but you came and defiled My land

and made My inheritance detestable.

8 The priests did not ask,

‘Where is 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄?’

The experts in the law no longer knew Me,

and the leaders rebelled against Me.

The prophets prophesied by  Ba‛al

and followed useless idols.

9 Therefore, I will contend with you again,

declares 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄,

and I will bring a case

against your children’s children.

10 Cross over to the isles of Kittim

and take a look;

  send to Qěḏar and consider carefully;

see if there has ever been anything like this:

11 Has a nation ever changed its mighty ones?

(Yet they are not mighty ones at all.)

  But My people have exchanged their Esteem

for useless idols.

12 Be stunned by this, O heavens;

be shocked and utterly appalled,”

declares 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

13 “For My people have committed two evils:

  They have forsaken Me,

the fountain of living water,

  and they have dug their own cisterns—

broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

The Consequence of Yasharal’s Sin

14 Is Yasharal a slave?

Was he born into slavery?

Why then has he become prey?

15 The young lions have roared at him;

they have sounded their voices.

  They have laid waste his land;

his cities lie in ruins, without inhabitant.

16 The men of Memphis (Noph) and Taḥpanḥes

have shaved the crown of your head.

17 Have you not brought this on yourself

by forsaking 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym

when He led you in the way?

18 Now what will you gain on your way to Mitsrayim

to drink the waters of the Nile?

  What will you gain on your way to Assyria

to drink the waters of the Euphrates?

19 Your own evil will discipline you;

your own apostasies will reprimand you.

  Consider and realize

how evil and bitter it is

  for you to forsake 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym

and to have no fear of Me,”

declares 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym of Hosts.

20 “For long ago you broke your yoke

and tore off your chains,

saying, ‘I will not serve!’

  Indeed, on every high hill

and under every green tree

you lay down as a prostitute.

21 I had planted you like a choice vine

from the very best seed.

  How could you turn yourself before Me

into a rotten, wild vine?

22 Although you wash with lye

and use an abundance of soap,

  the stain of your guilt

is still before Me,”

declares 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym.

Yasharal’s Unfaithfulness  (Judges 2:10–15 ;  Isaiah 43:22–28)

23 “How can you say, ‘I am not defiled;

I have not run after the Ba‛als’?

  Look at your behavior in the valley;

acknowledge what you have done.

  You are a swift young  swift dromedary (she-camel)

breaking loose in her ways,

24 a wild donkey at home in the wilderness,

sniffing the wind in the heat of her desire.

Who can restrain her passion?

  All who seek her need not weary themselves;

in mating season they will find her.

25 You should have kept your feet from going bare

and your throat from being thirsty.

  But you said, ‘It is hopeless!

For I love foreign idols,

and I must go after them.’

26 As the thief is ashamed when he is caught,

so the house of Yasharal is disgraced.

  They, their kings, their officials,

their priests, and their prophets

27 say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’

and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’

  They have turned their backs to Me

and not their faces.

Yet in the time of trouble, they say,

‘Rise up and save us!’

28 But where are the idols you made for yourselves?

Let them rise up in your time of trouble

and save you if they can;

  for your idols are as numerous

as your cities, O Yahudah.

YirmeYahu (YirmeYahu) Chapter 3

4 “Have you not just called to Me,

‘My Father, You are my friend from youth…’?”

YirmeYahu (YirmeYahu) Chapter 4

A Plea to Return

1 “If you will return, O Yasharal,

return to Me,” declares 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

“If you will remove your detestable idols from My sight

and no longer waver,

2 and if you can swear, ‘As surely as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 lives,’

in truth, in justice, and in righteousness,

then the nations will be blessed by Him,

and in Him they will esteem.”

Ya‛aqoḇ (James) 4:1-12

Ya‛aqoḇ (James) Chapter 4

A Warning against Pride

1 What causes conflicts and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from the passions at war within you?   2 You crave what you do not have; you kill and covet, but are unable to obtain it. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures.

4 You adulteresses!   Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward Alahym? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of Alahym. 5 Or do you think the Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to dwell in us yearns with envy? 6 But He gives us more favor. This is why it says:

“Alahym opposes the proud,

but gives favor to the humble.”

Drawing Near to Alahym

7 Submit yourselves, then, to Alahym. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to Alahym, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and He will exalt you.

11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. And if you judge the law, you are not a practitioner of the law, but a judge of it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

More Torah Portions

NOTE: The Torah that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gave to Moshe is divided into 54 portions, which is a practical way of reading the entire Torah each year. The new reading cycle traditionally starts after the seventh month moedim: Yom Teruah to Yom Shemini Atzeret. The 54th reading, Ve-Zot Ha-Berakhah, falls during Sukkot.

 ”So Moshe wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Luiy, who carried the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and to all the elders of Yasharal. Then Moshe commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of remission of debt, during Chag Sukkot [the Feast of Tabernacles], when all Yasharal comes before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym at the place He will choose, you are to read this law in the hearing of all Yasharal. Assemble the people—men, women, children, and the foreigners within your gates—so that they may listen and learn to fear 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym and to follow carefully all the words of this law.  Then their children who do not know the law will listen and learn to fear 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym, as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Yarden to possess.” Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 31: 9 – 12

It is not required that the Torah be read in this order. However, we find the Father 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 reveals new truths and builds our understanding of His Word each and every time we open and read His Word. We experience renewal and special blessings with each reading. We, therefore, believe it is important to make these readings available to the followers of the Way through this platform.
