V’zot Ha’Bracha means “And This the Blessing”

Torah: Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 33:1-34:12

Moses Blesses the Twelve Tribes

Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 33

1This is the blessing that Moshe the man of Alahym pronounced upon the Yasharalites before his death. 2 He said:

“𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 came from Sinai

and dawned upon us from Seir;

He shone forth from Mount Paran

and came with myriads of set-apart ones,

with flaming fire at His right hand.

3 Surely You love the people;

all the set-apart ones are in Your hand,

and they sit down at Your feet;

each receives Your Words—

4 the law that Moshe gave us,

the possession of the assembly of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

5 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 became King in Yashurun

when the leaders of the people gathered,

when the tribes of Yasharal came together.

6 Let Re’uḇěn live and not die,

nor this men be few.”

7 And concerning Yahuḏah he said:

“O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, hear the cry of Yahuḏah

and bring him to his people.

With his own hands he defends his cause,

but may You be a help against his foes.”

8 Concerning Luiy he said:

“Give Your Thummim to Luiy

and Your Urim to Your set-apart one,

whom You tested at Massah

and contested at the waters of Meribah.

9 He said of his father and mother,

‘I do not consider them.’

He disregarded his brothers

and did not know his own sons,

for he kept   Your word

and maintained Your covenant.

10 He will teach Your ordinances to Ya‛aqoḇ

and Your law to Yasharal;

  he will set incense before You

and whole burnt offerings on Your altar.

11 Bless his substance, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄,

and accept the work of his hands.

  Smash the loins of those who rise against him,

and of his foes so they can rise no more.”

12 Concerning Binyamin he said:

  “May the beloved of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄

rest secure in Him;

  Alahym shields him all day long,

and upon His shoulders he rests.”

13 Concerning Yosěph he said:

  “May his land be blessed by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄

with the precious dew from heaven above

and the deep waters that lie beneath,

14 with the bountiful harvest from the sun

and the abundant yield of the seasons,

15 with the best of the ancient mountains

and the bounty of the everlasting hills,

16 with the choice gifts of the land and everything in it,

and with the favor of Him who dwelt in the burning bush.

  May these rest on the head of Yosěph

and on the crown of the head of him

who was separated from his brothers.

17 His majesty is like a firstborn bull,

and his horns are like those of a wild ox.

  With them he will gore the nations,

even to the ends of the earth.

  Such are the myriads of Ephrayim,

and such are the thousands of Menashsheh.”

18 Concerning Zeḇulun he said:

   “Rejoice, Zeḇulun, in your journeys,

and Yissasḵar, in your tents.

19 They will call the peoples to a mountain;

there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness.

  For they will feast on the abundance of the seas

and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

20 Concerning Gaḏ he said:

   “Blessed is he who enlarges

the domain of Gaḏ!

  He lies down like a lion

and tears off an arm or a head.

21 He chose the best land for himself,

because a ruler’s portion was reserved for him there.

  He came with the leaders of the people;

he administered 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’s justice

and His ordinances for Yasharal.”

22 Concerning Dan he said:

  “Dan is a lion’s cub,

leaping out of Bashan.”

23 Concerning Naphtali he said:

  “Naphtali is abounding with favor,

full of the blessing of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄;

  he shall take possession

of the sea and the south.”

24 And concerning Ashěr he said:

  “May Ashěr be the most blessed of sons;

may he be the most favored among his brothers

and dip his foot in oil.

25 May the bolts of your gate be iron and bronze,

and may your strength match your days.”

26 “There is none like the Alahym of Yashurun,

who rides the heavens to your aid,

and the clouds in His majesty.

27 The Alahym of old is your dwelling place,

and underneath are the everlasting arms.

  He drives out the enemy before you,

giving the command, ‘Destroy him!’

28 So Yasharal dwells securely;

the fountain of Ya‛aqoḇ lives untroubled

  in a land of grain and new wine,

where even the heavens drip with dew.

29 Blessed are you, O Yasharal!

Who is like you, a people saved by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄?

  He is the shield that protects you,

the sword in which you boast.

  Your enemies will cower before you,

and you shall trample their high places.”

The Death of Moshe

Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 34

1Then Moshe went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which faces Yeriḥo. And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 showed him the whole land—from Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the land of Ephrayim and Menashsheh, all the land of Yahuḏah as far as the Western Sea, 3 the Negev, and the region from the Valley of Yeriḥo (the City of Palms) all the way to Zoar.

4 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to him, “This is the land that I swore to give Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‛aqoḇ when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross into it.”

5 So Moshe the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 died there in the land of Moab, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had said. 6 And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab facing Běyth Pe‛or, and no one to this day knows the location of his grave.

7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, and his vitality had not diminished. 8 The Yasharalites grieved for Moshe in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning for Moshe came to an end. 9 Now Yahushua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moshe had laid his hands on him. So the Yasharalites obeyed him and did as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had commanded Moshe. 10 Since that time, no prophet has risen in Yasharal like Moshe, whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 knew face to face— 11 no prophet who did all the signs and wonders that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 sent Moses to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his officials and all his land, 12 and no prophet who performed all the mighty acts of power and awesome deeds that Moshe did in the sight of all Yasharal.

Haftarah: Yahushua (Joshua) 1:1-1:18

God Instructs Joshua  (Deuteronomy 11:8–17)

Yahushua (Joshua) 1

1Now after the death of His servant Moshe, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 spoke to Yahushua son of Nun, Moshe’ assistant, saying, 2 “Moshe My servant is dead. Now therefore arise, you and all these people, and cross over the Yarděn into the land that I am giving to the children of Yasharal.

3 I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread, just as I promised to Moshe. 4 Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great River Euphrates—all the land of the Hittites—and west as far as the Great Sea.

5 No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moshe, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall give these people the inheritance of the land that I swore to their fathers I would give them.

7 Above all, be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe all the law that My servant Moshe commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in all you do.

9 Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym is with you wherever you go.”

Yahushua Takes Charge

10 Then Yahushua commanded the officers of the people: 11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you will cross the Yarděn to go in and take possession of the land that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym is giving you to possess.’ ”

12 But to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manashsheh, Yahushua said, 13 “Remember what Moshe the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commanded you when he said, ‘𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym will give you rest, and He will give you this land.’ 14 Your wives, your young children, and your livestock may remain in the land that Moshe gave you on this side of the Yarděn. But all your mighty men of valor must be armed for battle to cross over ahead of your brothers and help them, 15 until 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gives them rest as He has done for you, and your brothers also possess the land that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym is giving them. Then you may return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of that which Moshe the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gave you on the east side of Yarděn.”

16 So they answered Yahushua, “Everything you have commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us we will go. 17 Just as we obeyed Moshe in all things, so we will obey you. And may 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym be with you, as He was with Moshe. 18 Anyone who rebels against your order and does not obey your words, all that you command him, will be put to death. Above all, be strong and courageous!”

Messianic Scriptures: Ḥazon (Revelation) 21:9-22:5

The New Jerusalem

Ḥazon (Revelation) 21

9 Then one of the seven malakim with the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the set-apart city of Yarushalayim coming down out of heaven from Alahym, 11 shining with the esteem of Alahym. Its radiance was like a most precious jewel, like a jasper, as clear as crystal. 12 The city had a great and high wall with twelve gates inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Yasharal, and twelve malakim at the gates. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations bearing the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The malakim who spoke with me had a golden measuring rod to measure the city and its gates and walls. 16 The city lies foursquare, with its width the same as its length. And he measured the city with the rod, and all its dimensions were equal—12,000 stadia   in length and width and height. 17 And he measured its wall to be 144 cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the malak.

18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city itself of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were adorned with every kind of precious stone:

The first foundation was jasper,

the second sapphire,

the third chalcedony,

the fourth emerald,

20 the fifth sardonyx,

the sixth carnelian,

the seventh chrysolite,

the eighth beryl,

the ninth topaz,

the tenth chrysoprase,

the eleventh jacinth,

and the twelfth amethyst.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, with each gate consisting of a single pearl. The main street of the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.

22 But I saw no temple in the city, because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Al Shadday and the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, because the esteem of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 By its light the nations will walk, and into it the kings of the earth will bring their glory. 25 Its gates will never be shut at the end of the day, because there will be no night there.

26 And into the city will be brought the esteem and honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices an abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

The River of Life

Ḥazon (Revelation) 22

1Then the malak showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will worship Him. 4 They will see His face, and His Name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahym will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.

More Torah Portions

NOTE: The Torah that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gave to Moshe is divided into 54 portions, which is a practical way of reading the entire Torah each year. The new reading cycle traditionally starts after the seventh month moedim: Yom Teruah to Yom Shemini Atzeret. The 54th reading, Ve-Zot Ha-Berakhah, falls during Sukkot.

 ”So Moshe wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Luiy, who carried the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and to all the elders of Yasharal. Then Moshe commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of remission of debt, during Chag Sukkot [the Feast of Tabernacles], when all Yasharal comes before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym at the place He will choose, you are to read this law in the hearing of all Yasharal. Assemble the people—men, women, children, and the foreigners within your gates—so that they may listen and learn to fear 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym and to follow carefully all the words of this law.  Then their children who do not know the law will listen and learn to fear 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym, as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Yarden to possess.” Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 31: 9 – 12

It is not required that the Torah be read in this order. However, we find the Father 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 reveals new truths and builds our understanding of His Word each and every time we open and read His Word. We experience renewal and special blessings with each reading. We, therefore, believe it is important to make these readings available to the followers of the Way through this platform.
