Yoḥanan (John) 11:25

𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏 said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he dies, he shall live.”

Yoḥanan (John) 11:25

The story of Lazarus (Hebrew Name – אֶלְעָזָר – Al‛âzâr, meaning the Almighty Father is our helper) is one of the most well-known accounts in the Messianic Scriptures. In Yoḥanan (John) 11, we see that Lazarus becomes sick and dies. Messiah knew exactly what was going on, and He did not go to Lazarus and his grieving sisters right away. As the Scripture says, Messiah appeared after 4 days; which means that the body had already begun to decompose. Messiah assures Martha, Lazarus’ sister, that her brother will rise again. Martha believed in the resurrection and said that she knew her brother, who also believed in the Messiah, would rise on the last day.

Then Messiah showed them something powerful! He, Himself, is the resurrection and the life. He showed Martha that the resurrection power resides within Him, and He can resurrect anyone on any day! He does not need to wait for the last day! In Joh 11:26, Messiah declares:  “And everyone that is living and believing in Me shall never die at all. Do you believe this?”

She replied: “Yes, Master, I believe that You are the Messiah, the Son of Alahym, who is coming into the world.”

Then in verses 43 and 44, we see resurrection power manifested with full effect. Messiah cried with a loud voice, “Al‛azar , come out!” Al‛azar (Lazarus’ Hebrew name) came out, with his feet and hands bound with wrappings and his face wrapped with a cloth. Messiah commanded: “Loosen him, and let him go.”

Messiah was pointing forward to a time when He will raise the righteous unto eternal life – when all who are in the graves shall hear His voice: those who believe in Him and live faithfully will be in the first resurrection of the righteous; but those who did not will come up a thousand years later, in the resurrection of the damned.

We all have a choice to make. The Father calls us to choose life! Make the right choice today and remain steadfast in the walk with Messiah: the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him!
