I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
Our passion for Messiah is revealed in how we approach His Word. Do we truly love Him? If we truly love Him, it will be evident in how we treat His Word. Do we take it seriously enough to hide it in our heart? “Hiding the Word in our heart” means that we cover and protect it, to keep it as a treasure! We give it such a high place of importance, that we guard it as a special treasure. Messiah said where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Mat 6:21)!
There was a certain rich man who was told to sell all his possessions, give to the poor, and then to join Messiah in His Ministry. However, the man’s heart was so caught up with his worldly possessions, that it did not have space for loving the one True Messiah.
Messiah YAHUSHUA (𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏) says in Yochanan (John) 14:23: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
If we were to be tested today, would we be like the rich man or would we surrender it all to follow the King?
Mat 16:24-25: Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤏 said to His taught ones, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his stake, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.”
Messiah says further in Mat 19:29: “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My Name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.”
This is what Ruth, the Moabite, did when she decided to leave her country and follow Naomi. We see Ruth’s life take an interesting turn, as she joined herself to a woman who loved the Father, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). She found such great favor that she became the ancestor of kings to follow (starting with her greatgrandson David) and of our Messiah. She is one of the few women mentioned in Messiah’s genealogy (Mat 1:5). Ruth was truly blessed because she made the right choice. Ruth fell in love with the way of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
Ruth 1:16-17 says: But Ruth replied: “Do not urge me to leave you or to turn from following you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your Alahym will be my Alahym. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 punish me, and ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”
May the Father, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), give you courage and strength as you, likewise, cling with all your heart to the Word made flesh! If you have not yet invited the Word into your heart, there is no time like the present. Just ask… He will certainly answer you when you call out to Him in truth!
